Before and after:

Browsing Copy
Nobody buys a “Browsing Copy”
It is the most read.
It works the hardest.
But it never leaves the shop.
Customers leaf through it,
put it back on the shelf
and take the book next to it.
This project seeks to elevate
the status and worth
of these rejected books
Designers, illustrators and artists
are invited to use them as a canvas for their creativity.
These mishandled books are donated by our local bookstores.

Curated by the designers at Ministry of Design and Plate, Told on Tote has assembled a limited-run line of sleek tote bags that ooze urban cool.
For Singapore’s 46th birthday, the designers at Ministry of Design have choreographed six pairs of iconic structures significant to the country’s development both past and present. Part-bulletin board and part-billboard, each tote is emblazoned with an idea or issue, and forms part of a collectible limited-edition series.
These smart totes are wearable pieces of art and should definitely go on your want list. All profits will be committed to support the potential designers of Singapore’s tomorrow at the Singapore Children’s Society.

“The Sky Art Gallery was conceptualised to celebrate Singapore’s 46th National birthday,” says OIC project coordinator, Fleecircus. ”OIC is very honoured to be given such an opportunity to be able to work with and showcase our work with such an iconic symbol of Singapore. We were invited to create ten illustrations to give the cable cars a “festive” look. The illustrators were given total freedom to create their own designs and put their ideas into the artwork. It is a rare opportunity to be on such a national platform that touches a very wide audience of both Singaporeans and tourists. Let’s hope that more brands will recognize local talent, and offer more work opportunites and partnerships.”
The participating illustrators are AnnGee, Ben Qwek, Brian Chia, Eeshaun, Fleecircus, Mindflyer, Noreen Loh, Shawna Chan, Twisstii and WantonDoodle.
From tomorrow till 21 August.

Three larger than life vintage luggage pieces were created across our client’s hotel properties to encourage consumers to take part in an online contest where fifty participants would stand a chance to customize and win holiday packages. The luggage pieces housed iPads so any aspiring globetrotter could take part in the online contest. Customized luggage tags and luggage stickers were also created to promote retention of the online contest.

July 21st, 2011 Yanda

It has been 6 years ever since this blog has surfaced. I am very grateful for all the support I have been getting all these years. I’ve made a lot of friends and formed alliances and bonds that I cherish, very much.
A year ago, a small seed of an idea was planted in my heart — To present an exhibition to celebrate the beauty of print. It is finally coming to fruition, and in a few days, its doors will be open.
This collection of curated items form a library of 200 items ranging from books, zines, invites and even music albums. They come from the hands of the most recognisable names in design today. Heroes whose careers I have envied and worshipped — Sagmeister, Kinetic, WORK (Theseus Chan), Asylum, Why Not Associates, to name a few.
These are the things that I love and enjoy. Things that I wish I had created. Things that I have shared on my blog with you.
Fashion invites or lookbooks by Wunderkind, BLESS and also having Nign has sent us items for Viridi-anne; limited edition books by John Clang that is not for sale and distributed or seen in the public; some works of dutch design by Cobbenhagen Hendriksen, SEA, Mervis van Deursen; Anni Kuan lookbooks and music albums by Sagmeister, WERK zines, Pedderzines for On Pedder, Club 21 magazines and Guerrillazines for Comme des Garcons by WORK (Theseus Chan); books by Hesign, Build and Raking Leaves.
There are too many things out there in our society today. I find that these days we have almost forgotten the joy of possessing the truly beautiful ones. Ones that surprise us, that bring about joy, and prompt us to discover more.
I have never enjoyed art exhibitions with big frames and little captions that I cannot touch. This is why this exhibition is titled ‘I HAVE A ROOM WITH EVERYTHING’ and visitors are free to touch and browse the items in it.
There is really a lot of items, and I am excited to share them all with you. This exhibition would have never happened without AlsoDominie, whose collaboration I am most excited for. And a very special thanks to The Design Society and Orita Sinclair for their kind support too.
Thank you all again for the last 6 years, and the years ahead. I hope that through this “room” that I have curated, you will find something in it that will ignite a hunger and passion in you again.
