To celebrate reaching the grand age of 60, Fred Perry has teamed up with Dover Street Market to present a special collection of one-off shirts. The British brand charged sixty of its most valued patrons and cohorts with reimagining the original 1952 Fred Perry shirt. This results in a collection that is as eclectic as its creative collaborators, which include photographic power duo Inez and Vinoodh, painter Horace Panter, graphic designer Neville Brody and locals Asylum, Phunk Studio and JUICE.
The first 25 customisations are currently on display in an installation specially conceived by set designer Andy Hillman. London is the first leg of the collection’s international tour, which will see it pitch up at Dover Street Market’s outpost in Tokyo and the IT Beijing Market, before being auctioned off to raise money for the Amy Winehouse Foundation. In addition to the bespoke polos, British designers Simone Rocha, Giles, Christopher Raeburn and JW Anderson all had their hand in a limited edition run of shirts that will be available for purchase in store.

PAPA Shirt: World Class Garment for the Nation is a collaboration between WANDERWONDER and &Larry.
Produced in an extremely limited run, the Oxford cotton shirt pays tribute and serves a fittingly sartorial update to our ministers’ archetypal white short-sleeved attire. As a subtle reference, each piece is individually hand finished with a lighting bolt appliqué beneath a unique circular chest pocket.
PAPA Shirt retails at S$189 from Thursday, 20 December at WANDERWONDER’s flagship boutique (65A Haji Lane).

Handmade footwear merges with 3D printing technology. Presented at the Graduate Expo of London College of Fashion, “A Wrong Mongrel” is a collection of 8 leather boots for men designed by Ross Barber.
It’s neither barbed wire nor a new species of organic coral that is able with time to extend on the outsole of your shoes like a technological ivy.
The elaborate net-like mass that envelops Barber’s shoes is composed of nylon and is made using 3D printing. According to Ross, the cost of the material and the process is not sustainable for a commercial prototype, so for now it’s presented as an experimental project.
The idea behind “A Wrong Mongrel” is that of discarding the conventional design process in favor of an approach guided by technique. From a functional object, the printed nylon “tendril” thus becomes an aesthetic decoration.
With this experiment, Ross wants to show the metamorphosis that occurs in the design process, in which each of the 8 “Metamorphosis” soles represents a different stage of the mutation.
The reticulate indeed resembles an acute acne breakout rising on the skin, engulfing and dominating it like a weed. To us it suggests not only the function which is not strictly decorative or the decadent effect of a vine, but also the ability to favor acoustic and thermal isolation.

- Seams of the shirts are folded according to fold lines, raglan shaped sleeve (similar to a diagonal paper fold)
- Shirt detailing like placket, rear collar and lower corner hem lines also contain hidden printed panels
- Japanese prints like cherry blossom, polka dot and fans

Austrian designer Carol Christian Poell has presented this latest creation, the “Object Dyed, No Seam Drip-Rubber” Leather Sneaker. Even though these sneakers look more like a work of art then an actual pair of footwear, they are actually very wearable. Created using calf and kangaroo to produce the sneaker then dying white and dipping in latex, the sole is then achieved by treating with a “Drip-Rubber” application. Poell is known for using rather unconventional materials in past collections such as human hair, bodyplast, metal chain-stitch and blood-dyed leather.

‘T’ shirts are T shirts that was designed to have the silhouette of 5 famous typefaces; Helvetica, Caslon, Baskerville, Courier, and Cooper Black.
In the world of typography, terms such as typeface, character, body, etc are used to describe the form of a letter. The reason why they use expressions closely related to a human body, is perhaps because each different letter has a distinct quality and personality, in a similar way that us humans are all unique.
In the designing process of these shirts, I aimed to capture the character of each typeface and tried to give them a unique look and presence once worn. By collaborating with Itaru Yonenaga, I feel we were able to produce a collection of shirts that is not only conceptual, but wearable as real clothes. I hope you will find your favorite shirt/typeface.

The new Asylum with a new facelift with a shift of focus towards more fashion driven.
First opened in 2005, Asylum started out as a concept store selling design and lifestyle products. As one of the first multi-label stores in Singapore, Asylum Shop was fondly looked upon as a place to inspire through its variety of products. With that, it is now a whole new shopping experience as the Asylum is now categorized into two themes, with the ground level housing more casual lifestyle brands while the basement houses darker, dressier labels.
