“Chris Tarry is both an accomplished author and a highly distinguished jazz musician. The challenge was to package his latest CD, Rest of the Story, in a way that highlighted both of these talents and reflected the creativity of his work.
We answered the brief by turning the CD package into a book of Tarry’s short stories.
The illustrations first set the stage and draw the reader to the stories, while the album’s musical landscape completes the picture—thus becoming the Rest of the Story. As an extra twist, the CD lies at the bottom of a large die-cut hole in the book, mirroring the fall of the character from the cover illustration.
The thoughtfulness of Tarry’s work finds its echo in every aspect of the packaging, from the detailed drawings to the foil lettering and silver ribbon marker.”

Xococava (pronounced shoco-cava), an extension of its big brother restaurant, Cava, is whimsical hybrid of a stand-up tapas bar crossed with an ice-cream parlour. Inspired by Spanish and Mexican cultures of chocolate and Italy’s love affair with gelato, Xococava features artisanal ice cream and hand-made chocolate. With such unusual creations as prune/Pedro Ximenez sherry ice cream and choriso, dark chocolate truffles, the store caters to Toronto’s burgeoning “foodie” culture.
Concrete created an identity program that utilizes strong typographic forms. This extends to the chocolate “periodic table” that uses two-letter combinations to identify the different flavours of chocolate.

‘T’ shirts are T shirts that was designed to have the silhouette of 5 famous typefaces; Helvetica, Caslon, Baskerville, Courier, and Cooper Black.
In the world of typography, terms such as typeface, character, body, etc are used to describe the form of a letter. The reason why they use expressions closely related to a human body, is perhaps because each different letter has a distinct quality and personality, in a similar way that us humans are all unique.
In the designing process of these shirts, I aimed to capture the character of each typeface and tried to give them a unique look and presence once worn. By collaborating with Itaru Yonenaga, I feel we were able to produce a collection of shirts that is not only conceptual, but wearable as real clothes. I hope you will find your favorite shirt/typeface.

This is the 3rd year running of the special eco-friendly tote bag produced by Gap to mark Earth Day. The 0% Plastic Bag initiative was started in 2009 to support the global green movement by encouraging customers to use this cotton tote bag in place of disposable plastic bags.
OICsingapore is very proud to be part of this new series for 2011 and to work with the Gap’s Singapore team on this special iconic bag.
There are five new designs this year by illustrators – Anngee Neo, Fleecircus, Gwee Yin Fei, Mindflyer and Miun. Each illustrator was invited to reinterpret the original design of the bag while maintaining the “0% Plastic” tagline. In addition there is a special store window display designed by MrB aka Ben Qwek ( www.benqwek.com ) to compliment this new collection at the major outlets like Wisma and Vivocity.
This limited edition collection will be launched on Earth Day -22 April- in all Gap stores. Each bag is available at S$5 with purchase of any GAP merchandise.
This project is another effort by OICsingapore to partner with good brands and showcase/ promote the usage of interesting illustrators and illustration.

Kristal Melson‘s art is easily distinguishable. Bursting with colour, emotive characters and a sense of quirk to accompany her kaleidoscopic work, she talks about how she finds inspiration in the littlest things and how it all comes together in her art.
